On October 26th 2012, The Society held it's first annual PMH-APN Professional Ed Day. The goal of the conference was to provide psychiatric advance practiced nurses with the most up-to-date information on psychotherapy and psychopharma-cology. Discussion included contemporary developments in evidence-based psychotherapy practice, and new knowledge in genetics and psychopharmacology.

Kathleen Wheeler, PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN set the tone for a mind opening day with her a compelling  keynote address on Psychotherapy Practice: What Does the Future Hold  for Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses?

Candice Knight, PhD, EdD, APN, PMHNP/CNS-BC, PMHCNJ presented an engaging talk on, "Beyond Rogers, Perls, Maslow, & May: New Frontiers in Humanistic-Existential Psychotherapy"

Richard Pessagno, DNP, APN, PMHNP/CNS- BC  drew a hearty applause with his affable delivery of "Let’s Re-Group: Evolving Trends in Group Psychotherapy   for Psychiatric APNs"

Laura Leahy, MS, APN, PMHNP/CNS-BC gave an interesting and informative presentation on Personalized Psychotropic Regimens: Matching Receptors, Genotypes, and Symptoms

Dorothy Borresen, PhD, APN, PMHNP/CNS-BC            presented a wonderful  primer on the love / hate    relationship we have with Benzodiazepines
